Primary/Secondary Liaison/Transfer – Associated Primaries

After initial consultation between Abercorn staff and primary colleagues, incoming pupils from the associated primary schools undertake an agreed planned programme of primary/secondary liaison.  Parents/guardians of incoming pupils are invited to visit Abercorn and to attend information sessions.  The primary/secondary co-ordinator attends P7 reviews.

Enrolment/Transition of mainstream Primary/Secondary Referrals

Many pupils from mainstream schools and other educational establishments are referred to the school by Educational Psychologists.  The first stage is a referral to school.  Thereafter the parents and pupils concerned may visit to determine the appropriateness of the placement.

Pupils transfer from a range of establishments.  The local authority prioritise applications in accordance with the following guidelines:
