Legobotics

Abercorn School has been running weekly STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) workshops where pupils have been creating simple machines and using them to understand basic engineering principles.  Using the robotics software WeDo, pupils have created and controlled roaring lions and squwaking birds amongst other things!

The kit: each pupil had their own set of legobotics lego and a computer to work on.

Pupils have been enjoying the club and have left with a real sense of achievement and a greater understanding robotics and how it affects our lives.

In the following weeks the instructors from ComputerXplorers will be looking at more ideas using the software and hardware they have provided and we hope our pupils take away some of the ideas they put forward and see how they relate to the real world.  Many thanks to all staff involved in putting the club on.
