Blythswood Care School's Enterprise Challenge

On 12th May class 1B and Ms Bennett travelled to The Experience in Hillington where the Blythswood Care School's Enterprise Challenge was to take place.  This is an annual event where Glasgow schools are encouraged to come up with innovative ways of making money for charitable causes. There were 5 schools shortlisted for various awards.

The team brainstorming some ideas.

The teams were given £20 each and had time in their schools to come up with ideas and strategies on how to maximise their profits.  Our team chose to run a social cafe where they purchssed cakes and other items from local businesses and sold them in school at break times and lunchtimes.  This proved to be an effective strategy with £120 raised.

Setting up the cafe before the interval. Selling their goods to pupils and staff.

After much deliberation the judges awarded Abercorn's team 'Best Report' for their detailed description of how they formed their ideas and put them into action.

The team shows off their award with the judges at the event.  Well done to 1B and Ms Bennett!

All proceeds from this event were collected by Blythswood Care and sent to Orphaned Children for India, a charity working with parentless and abandoned children.
