Game Programming Workshops

Over the past two terms 3rd year pupils have been participating in game programming workshops using RPG Maker VX - a software tool allowing users to create full and rich game worlds incorporating graphics, narrative and basic program control.

The software was provided by Colsolarium - a Scottish educational organisation who lend hardware and software to schools in order to aid and enhance ICT in the classroom.

The pupils found the workshops enjoyable and challenging and were proud of their final games.  Some example games from the workshops and installation instructions are provided below.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

You can try out Garry's game and Lewis' game by following these steps:

  1. Download the runtime package found here (at the bottom of the page) and install it using the instructions provided.
  2. Download one of the games below
  3. IMPORTANT:  Due to server restrictions you must change the file extension of the downloaded file from .doc to .exe
  4. Double click the file and extract it to create a new folder.
  5. Double click 'Game.exe' in this new folder.
