Strategy Board Game Lunches

Abercorn pupils have been learning how to play various strategy board games over the past few weeks and the club is proving very successful!  A particular favourite is Skyline 3000 where players compete to build the tallest skyscrapers in a cityscape of a colonised planet.  The club runs on Thursday lunchtimes and numbers have been growing steadily.  We hope to bring more games to the club soon including Pandemic, Exploding Kittens, Risk and the Settlers.

Board games are a popular passtime among many young people and the games played here build on what pupils may have learned at home.  Most games invlove higher level thinking skills such as strategy formation, bidding, retention of resources for future turns and co-operation.  All of this brings out the social (and noisy!) side of players and the club is as much about this as it is about the games.

Come and give it a try!
