Lessons From Auschwitz
On Wednesday 5th September two pupils and a member of staff travelled to Poland to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp. The trip was arranged by the Holocaust Educational Trust who have run successful visits for many years.
A chartered flight took the pupils and staff to Krakow Airport. Participants then visited three sites: The Polish town of Oswiecim, Auschwitz concentration camp and Birkenau – a purpose built extermination camp next to Auschwitz.
Both pupils and staff took a lot from the vist and after follow up seminars will present a piece of work to the whole school incorporating the issues surrounding prejudice and its consequences in today's society.
