National Swimming Gala

For the first time, the Scottish Championships for Junior Swimmers with a Learning Disability were held at Scotstoun Leisure Centre.  The move away from the regular venue of Tollcross Leisure Centre, was prompted by the preparations that are taking place for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.  The new venue presented challenges, but on the day participating teams and those charged with the responsibility of running the Championships, worked together to complete the programme ahead of schedule.

 

350 swimmers from schools throughout Scotland registered for the Championships of 2011.  Abercorn did exceptionally well and took home the following medals:

 Garry Hamilton won Bronze in the Class 3 50m Freestyle  
 Philip O'Neil won Gold in the Class 4 50m Freestyle  
Derek Keith won Bronze in the Class 1 50m Freestyle
